Saint Laurent Rive Droite Beijing is turning its focus to photography with a new exhibition by Chinese artist No.223, also known as Lin Zhipeng. Curated by Saint Laurent Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello, the exhibition runs from August 6 to September 11 in celebration of Qixi, the Chinese festival of love.
Born in Guangdong in 1979 and now based in Beijing, Lin Zhipeng first gained recognition through his blog North Latitude 23, launched in 2003. His photographs, often shared alongside short texts, established him as an influential voice among a generation of image-makers shaped by digital platforms and independent publishing.
Working under the name No.223, a reference to Wong Kar-wai’s Chungking Express, his work explores youth, intimacy and personal freedom through vivid colour, layered compositions and an instinctive sense of spontaneity. His photographs capture everyday moments and the emotional ambiguities of a generation navigating a rapidly changing society, balancing playful innocence with a distinctly personal perspective.
The exhibition continues No.223’s relationship with Saint Laurent. His work was previously featured in Pink Matter, a Rive Droite group exhibition in Paris and Los Angeles in 2022, followed by a solo exhibition in 2023. His work has also been shown internationally at institutions including Fotografiska Shanghai, ICP New York, MEP Paris and Photo Basel.
The Beijing presentation reflects Rive Droite’s broader role as a cultural destination, where fashion meets photography, art, music, design and other creative disciplines. All exhibited works will be available for purchase, adding another dimension to the ongoing dialogue between Saint Laurent and contemporary image-making.
