After rave reviews at Sundance, Cannes, and TIFF, Rodney Ascher’s film Room 237 is finally on its way to an indie screen near you this March. The exploratory documentary about Stanley Kubrick’s 1980’s horror masterpiece The Shining is said to be one of the best nonfiction films of the year (according acclaimed critic Chuck Klosterman).
It’s part conspiracy theory, part documentary, and features interviews with Bill Blakemore, Geoffrey Cocks, Juli Kearns, and John Fell Ryan, among others. The trailer really sells it well, and any Kubrick aficionado will notice it’s an updated version of the original trailer for The Shining.
