In a world of plentiful audio, media, music, audiobooks, and podcasts, there’s just no reason to compromise sound quality. Throw away your tiny ear buds and get ready to experience a whole new world of hi-res audio! As we move towards the brave new world of Hi-Res audio, we here at Sidewalk Hustle are set with the Sony MDR-1R stereo headphones.
We had a chance to test out these bad boys earlier this month and not only are they capable of playing audio files higher than the normal 96Khz/24bit quality they also have a rather epic bass extension with a low-bass separation. The moment we started playing music on them, we noticed a huge difference from our everyday apple ear buds. The powerful bass made us feel like we were right there in the room with Spoon as they recorded their highly acclaimed new album They Want My Soul.
Thankfully the Sony MDR-1R headphones look cool, are super functional, and feature a unique inward axis structure, that can pivot around for the perfect fit. The cushy and incredibly soft ear cups are large enough to fit anyone, (no matter what size of ears or head you have) and provide a better acoustic seal for a more crisp sound coming through the 40 mm liquid crystal polymer film diaphragms.
They come with two 1.2m cables in the box, one of which has an iPhone/iPod/iPad compatible in-line remote control, which works as a play/pause and volume button. Of course it also has a built-in microphone, which maintains a pretty crisp call quality on both ends. To top it all off, quality and functionality aside, they came beautifully packaged in a sleek black box, complete with a zippered carrying pouch and all the accessories including gold-plated four conductor plug.
