Last fall queer punk duo PWR BTTM released their fantastic debut album Ugly Cherries and heads up, it’s a must listen. You can get a taste of what makes them so great with their new video for album cut “I Wanna Boi”. In the video co-vocalist and drummer Liv Bruce works those cheekbones and gives us everything while getting romantic with a blowup doll. The video was filmed in upstate New York by director Anneliese Cooper. Here’s what Cooper had to say about the clip…
“If I had to elevator-pitch my concept for this video, it would go something like ‘Miss Havisham and Dr. Frank-N-Furter act out that visual gag from Arrested Development where there’s nothing in the cabinets.’ If I had to explain it any more coherently than that, I’d say this video is about expectations – about being lonely in bed as a teenager and making little stageplays behind your eyelids of what love is going to be like, then being sentenced to live in that state of half-imagined wanting. That’s what I’ve always identified with in ‘I Wanna Boi’: an attempt to get out in front of your big, directionless longing with wit and excellent lipstick.”
Sold. We f*cking love it.
