If you don’t already know, Prince Rama are a hella rad Brooklyn psych-dance sister duo made up of Taraka and Nimai Larson. They’re incredibly fun live and they’ve just announced details for their upcoming new record Xtreme Now, due out March 4 on their new label home Carpark Records. As their press release notes…

Xtreme Now is an album themed around extreme sports; its adrenaline-high songs reflect what it’s like to dance on the edge of mortality.

Well colour us stoked. With this new album news also comes their bangin’ new single “Bahia”. Taraka Larson explains…

‘Bahia’ kick-starts the album with an ominously saccharine invitation to enter into a lost italo-disco Edenic paradise performed by a pseudo-duet between male and female robot-nymphs (both secretly sung by me).

In the year 2067, I witnessed an aesthetic landscape where art museums are sponsored by energy drink beverages and beauty is determined by speed. I saw a vision of ancient tapestries stretched across half-pipes and people base-jumping off planes with the Mona Lisa smiling up from their parachutes. I saw art merge with extreme sports to form a new aesthetic language of ‘Speed Art.’ I realized that time travel was possible via the gateway of extreme sports, and I wanted to make music that would provide the score.

Get transported to their magical world and listen to the insane track above. Prince Rama’s Xtreme Now is due out on Carpark Records March 4th, 2016. You can pre-order their limited black/neon green starburst vinyl (first 40 pre-orders in the Carpark shop get a Prince Rama temporary tattoo) or grab the pre-order digitally on iTunes now.
