Tonight in Toronto, our favourite American boho-fashion brand, Free People, will open the doors to its very first Canadian location situated in a three story building in Yorkville. We had the pleasure of previewing the space earlier today and were delighted to be able to explore and experience Free People’s signature collection within the beautifully and rather intricate yet rustically romantic displays.
A denim covered bike greeted us outside accented by an intricate display of fall coloured metallic leaves creeping up from the brands first ever intimates boutique, situated in the basement of the shop. The wild metallic display continued in the shops main windows above casual mannequins dressed in Free People’s most coveted pieces of the season. On the main floor, ornate Indian lanterns (found in Toronto’s Little India) hung above raw repurposed wooden tables, used to display short stacks of must-have fall items like cozy oversized cardigans and layerable basics with crouched accents while vegan leather jackets and pull overs hung from floral fabric covered hangers.
Mexican accents were present on western style denim button downs, casual blazers, lace-up pull overs and jeans, while the brands signature light and airy dresses and tunics were spread across the store elegantly on mannequins and wrought iron racks accented with delicate jewellery and bags.
A stunningly intricate collage with metallic and denim leaves creeped down from a skylight leading up the stairs to the third floor where the fitting rooms are housed, complete with hand painted lotus flowers and a gracious pillow filled bay window overlooking Yorkville. Stand out pieces in the shop were the many pairs of patterned denim (include a deliciously flirty rose print) and corduroys, as well as a flirty peach dress with leaf shaped lace, and a cream eyelet tunic with adorable scalloped finishes.
The shop effortlessly exudes free-wheeling beauty and a casual that makes us with summer would last forever, and we can hardly wait to pop into the shop again and again.
Take a look at a few photos of the shop below and if you aren’t already planning to head to the official opening tonight from 6-8pm, you probably should.
