When it comes to designer fashion, no one does black better than Prada, but you would be foolish to look past their colour. Over the weekend, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons at Italian fashion house Prada presented their Spring/Summer 2023 Menswear collection, curated to the soundtrack of American rock mainstays Sonic Youth.
The collection is more refined than relaxed, unnecessary detailing is done away with, and collars have been removed on shirts and coats. Pants are skinny, drawn close, cropped at the ankle, or into short shorts. A sequence of tailored black suits features no lapels and hidden buttons, skinny tapered pants coupled with pointy boots. Leather shorts, leather shirts, and leather trenches made a strong appearance. While the 90s grunge icon, the checkered print adds the colour to next summer’s Prada looks.

The real winners in the collection have to come in the grey whites they presented at the end. The oversized bomber is our piece de resistance and already has the hallmarks of a collector’s piece. The long-sleeved logoless logo tunics are also an excellent standout item, and paired with some black trousers will be a winner. While we fully appreciate the abundance of leather, something tells us that skin-tight leather shorts may not be the most desired item for any summer fashion. But also, what do we know. Watch the full presentation below and let us know what you think.
