Prim as ever Toronto-based designer Philip Sparks launched his Spring 2013 collection yesterday in his Ossington shop and we had the pleasure of being among the first to see it!
For women, bright pops of cherry red candy stripes are seen on pleated skirts, blazers, and vintage inspired blouses in gloriously crisp cotton twill. A show stoping sleeveless blue white and tiny red striped chevron dress begs to be accessorized with one of his leather raffia belts and 50s style strappy sandals seen in yellow and navy blue.
For men Sparks shows of his expert tailoring with a signature blazer also in the same generous ‘wide awning’ stripe paired with worker chinos, which continue to be a best seller from season to season. An array of button down shirts are seen in finely printed paisley, chambray, both blue and red striped varieties, shown with a contrasting printed ties.
A straw hats strewn about the space summon barbershop quartet imagery which most of the dandy looks do on their own. Also featured for spring are some gorgeous leather and canvas briefcases, pocket squares, and lace up brogues in beige canvas with contrasting yellow, sky blue, and tan leather accents.
As always everything is made in Toronto and so beautiful merchandised with vintage fans, typewriters and tackle boxes throughout the shop. If you haven’t ventured into the shop yet, we highly recommend it you do for a much needed punch of spring colour.
