Partner Shares Video for “Not Today”

How did you spend your 4/20? Our fav Canadian rock duo of stoners Partner celebrated by releasing “Not Today”! As the band explain…

This is a song we composed in November 2020 when we were self isolating and writing on Gabriola Island at the Noise Floor. We had a series of early morning writing sessions that began at 7 am and produced this and several other songs. At the time we were not sure when we would play a show again, and it would turn out not to be for almost a year, but we were grateful to get a chance to rock out in the woods. Maybe because we were missing playing shows, some of the songs ended up sounding very arena rock. We can’t wait to take this one on the road.

So smoke some trees and check out the track the queer rock icons made amongst them! Check out the funny yet inspirational video above, directed by Lesley Marshall who says…

The world’s greatest band asked if I could help them out with a lyric style music video so I gave it a spin! I took the contrasting vibe of the slower ballad rock and the psychedelic freak out and translated them through some weird video computer inventions. Tried to take on the world with my love of text and nature footage. Not today – but someday!

Partner’s debut album In Search of Lost Time (2017) was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize and we still have their second full-length album Never Give Up (2020) in heavy rotation. Earlier this year Partner released the driving “Time Is A Car” also from their Noise Floor Recording Studio session. They’re on You’ve Changed Records and we can’t wait to hear what they get up to next!
