It may be Monday but that’s no excuse not to listen to “Wednesday Wedding,” the latest single from Atlanta-based post-punk indie rock act Omni. You may recognize the members of Omni from their past projects. Frankie Broyles was in Deerhunter & Balkans while Philip Frobos and Billy Mitchell were in Carnivores. Bassist/vocalist Philip Frobos explains his thoughts behind the new single, saying…
“Frankie [Broyles] and I labored over ‘Wednesday Wedding’ probably longer than any other song on the record. After many days of not knowing where to go with it or whether to just move on, Frankie came up with the pre-chorus guitar part (‘white walls and advantages’) and almost immediately the chorus came to me. It all fell perfectly in place. ‘Wednesday Wedding’ to me is an ode to a lot of my favorite bands. I wanted to write a song that sounded like a mix of a Cindy Wilson-led B-52s song and The Clean. I’m pretty happy with where Frankie and I arrived.”
