Syrian wedding singer turned Mad Decent signee (and major festival essential) Omar Souleyman is set to release his third studio album, titled To Syria, With Love, this Friday. The basis for the song is a sincere homesickness for Souleyman’s Al-Jazira (his native region in north eastern Syria), as an English translation of the lyrics demonstrates, “When will our alienation end so we can go back home? We miss gathering together under the shade of our tree. The soul is tormented by our longing…”
