After an energetic opening night of NXNE Port Lands 2017, we headed back down to 51 Commissioners Street for the second day of the Toronto music festival.

Opening performances were handled by local favourites EBHONI, John River, MUNA and American soul singer Son Little. After an energetic set from NYC indie pop act Bleachers, attendees were treated to a rare appearance from UK rapper Tinie Tempah – arguably the loudest and sweatiest performance of the night.

As the sun set and festival-goers grabbed their last food and beverages, the crowd around the Skyline Stage grew and grew in anticipation of the headlining set from Montreal producer Kaytranada. Armed with several visual elements and an expansive stage setup, Kay delivered a diverse performance packed full of his work, both solo and collaborative. It was a serious reminder (for those previously unaware) of Kay’s presence in the modern music scene.
