Hat-maker New Era has partnered with American footwear brand New Balance to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of the MT580 trail runner sneaker. To celebrate the once Japan-only exclusive silhouette, New Balance and New Era have each created a super cool, ultra sleek and minimal piece. Doing what they do best New Era has made a black wool 9FIFTY snapback with a black leather rear strap and a matt-black “NB” logo clip, with glow-in-the-dark embroidery and reflective black contour lines on the visor.
The MRT580NE is an all-black nubuck upper on a classically-minimal silhouette with glow-in-the-dark outsole and neon-green tongue. The shoe also features a reflective heel counter with a contour line-inspired pattern, a full-ground contact sole, the ROLLBAR®, ENCAP and C-CAP technologies, and a New Era lace lock to bring the collaboration home.
It’s a lot of details for a minimal shoe/hat combo. They best thing to do is look through the lookbook below and if you dig the collaboration you can cop the New Era x New Balance MT580 capsule at select stockists on January 8.
