One of Toronto’s OG cool-guy fashion retail institutions Over The Rainbow is currently in the midst of celebrating their 40-year anniversary! Not bad for a little boutique shop in the ever so fancy neighbourhood of star sighting Yorkville. To celebrate this monumental milestone, the store has launched a brilliant 40th Anniversary Collaboration Series project which features capsule pieces from some very cool brands. Starting tomorrow, May 23rd, 2015, Over the Rainbow will be releasing their second drop with long-time brand partner, and our favourite jean brand Naked & Famous Denim. The two brands put their heads together and came up with a 4-piece men’s capsule line based on a rare Japanese “Kimono” fabric.
The capsule collection features four pieces comprised of a selvedge denim jean jacket, selvedge denim jeans, as well as white and grey pocket tees all with added kimono elements. For the jean & jacket, Naked & Famous Denim used a 13 oz. “fuzzy” Japanese denim fabric with a blue selvedge, exclusive to this capsule collection. The pocket tee is a first for Naked & Famous Denim and uses our chosen Kimono fabric for the pocket design. The Kimono Capsule Series was produced locally in Montreal and only 80 total units were produced for the entire collection.
The Kimono flower fabric, also sourced from Japan, can be found on the inside of both denim products and the coin pocket lining of the jean, as well as a custom leather patch.
The Naked & Famous Denim x Over the Rainbow Kimono capsule collection will be available tomorrow, May 23rd, from 1 pm to 4 pm. Oh and there is only 80 pieces total in this collection, so if you want it, you better make sure you are at Over the Rainbow – 101 Yorkville Ave. Toronto, On M5R 1C1.
