We are counting down to one of our favourite electronic music festivals of the year, Movement in Detroit.
There are many factors that make this a great festival besides the line-up. It’s cost-effective, a weekend pass is $79 and a VIP pass is $199. Now $199 may seem like a big bump from $79, but that pass is like gold. Clean bathrooms, a seating area, minimal line-ups for drinks and you get to hob knob with the talent. In our opinion, it’s a steal.
Another reason to hit-up Movement are the great parties happening all over the city Detroit. Whether it’s the annual Soul Skate roller skating party with DJ legends like Moodyman or dancing the afternoon away at the Old Miami with Seth Troxler and his friends in a Vietnam vets bar, there is something for everyone and every taste throughout the weekend. Highlights for us last year were the Old Miami party and the Hot Natured after party in a gorgeous loft space on the last day of the festival.
This year’s line-up doesn’t disappoint at all. Here are a few acts that we are looking forward to:
Nicolas Jaar – Live
Ben Klock b2b Macel Dettmann
Richie Hawtin
Ellen Allien
Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs – Live
The worst problem you’ll have over the weekend is trying to ensure that you make between stages to see your favourites. Thankfully there is an app that will help ensure that you time your runs between stages appropriately.
One more reason to buy a pass to Movement is that it is held in Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit. It is a beautiful city and the people who live there are wonderful and overjoyed to welcome you to Detroit. Now go get your tickets!
