It has been one hell of hot summer. We can’t believe we’re even saying this but we’re actually looking forward to jacket weather. GASP! After much reapplying and sweating off of makeup this month, we’ve come up with eight rather excellent products to get you through the rest of this heat looking totally glam.
Hourglass – Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick
Foundation sticks are perfect for the summer! In this heat our skin produces added oil on the surface, which keeps our skin moist and soft and incredibly easy to blend a solid foundation into. The Hourglass Foundation stick is weightless and provides full coverage. It acts like a foundation, concealer, and powder all in one, and is long-lasting and completely waterproof. It’s also designed to adjust to your body temperature for a very seamless finish. You can purchase this paraben-free foundation stick at your local Sephora store,.
Too Faced – Sketch Marker Liquid Art Eyeliner
There’s still one more month of summer brights and music festivals, so you might as well hop on the colorful eyeliner bandwagon while you can. The Too Faced Sketch Markers are available in 12 shades that glide onto the eyelid effortlessly. This waterproof eyeliner is gluten-free, cruelty-free, and best of all formulated without any parabens or sulphates.
Yves Saint Laurent – Kiss and Blush Strobing Universal Highlighter
Nothing screams summer like highlighter and we just adore this one from Yves Saint Laurent. Meant for the face and the lips, the Kiss and Blush Strobing Universal Highlighter is the perfect pearly shade for all skin tones and dries smoothly and matte. You can purchase this highlighter at your closest Sephora, Holt Renfrew, or Hudson’s Bay store.
Urban Decay – Moondust Palette
The Moondust Palette from Urban Decay is the most perfect summer eyeshadow palette. It features eight sparkly new shades that give iridescence a totally new meaning plus the sparkly packaging is just oh-so fun. Create sophisticated looks or go a little crazy – the possibilities with these shadows are endless. You can purchase this palette at your local Sephora or online at Urban Decay.
Dermalogica Precleanse Wipes
Since we’ve been travelling a lot this summer, we’ve come to rely on Dermalogica’s preclease wipes – especially on long flights. They’re the perfect refresher for the plane ride before heading off to bed and the formula’s blend of Aloe, Apricot oils, Rice Bran, and Vitamin E, removes makeup (even around the eyes) while softening and conditioning the skin. Your carry on would not be complete without this handy travel pack. Find Dermalogica products here.
Captain Blankenship – Mermaid Sea Salt Hairspray
Maybe you weren’t lucky enough to make it to the ocean this year and that’s okay, because this Sea Salt Spray will literally transport you there. The Mermaid Sea Salt Hair Spray adds texture and waves to hair, helping to create a voluminous beachy look. Organic aloe and sea kelp will leave your hair soft instead of hard and crunchy like most sprays. You can pick up this little piece of beachy glory at your local Sephora.
Beauty Counter – Sugar Body Scrub, Lemon Grass
Summer is the time for skin and if you’re going to show it off, you may as well be soft and smooth. The Beauty Counter Sugar Body Scrub, helps to buff away dead skin and keep it looking soft and smooth. The blend of evening primrose, sweet almond, apricot kernel, sunflower oils, acai berries, citrus, and lemongrass leaves skin healthy and smelling delicious. You can purchase beauty counter products online.
Vaseline
We’re sure all of you are wondering why exactly Vaseline is included in this month’s list, but hear us out! There’s no sense in applying makeup for a day at the beach, especially when you’re applying sunscreen every few hours. Vaseline is the most perfect product to add to your eyelashes to darken them, keep your brows in place, add a highlight to the tops of your cheekbones and a glossy finish on your lips. It is one of the best products to keep with you in any season, but especially on the beach! Plus if you get a sunburn you can apply Vaseline to soothe it.
