MM6 Maison Margiela and Salomon have built one of the most interesting footwear partnerships of the last few years, taking technical outdoor design and pushing it into a space that feels just as natural on the street as it does on the trail. Since its launch in 2022, the collaboration has continued to blur the lines among function, fashion, and everyday wear.
Personally, the ACS Pro MM6 releases from a few years back remain some of my favourite sneakers in rotation. I own four different colourways and always find a reason to wear them. They have become my go-to sneaker for running around town, but they also have enough presence to work as a proper fashion shoe. The all-black patent leather pair especially remains a standout, a bold statement without needing to say much.
They are also the rare sneakers that have almost completely replaced my daily rotation of more traditional swoosh options. The real test of any shoe is whether you keep reaching for it, and the ACS Pro MM6s have always passed that test.
Now, after four years of collaboration, MM6 Maison Margiela and Salomon are expanding their shared design language with a new collection arriving in two drops. The first release brings back the XT MM6 in three new colourways, including a dynamic multicolour version, a tapioca-and-violet combination, and a deep urban green. The silhouette continues to combine Salomon’s technical expertise with MM6 Maison Margiela’s unconventional approach to design.
The first drop also introduces the MM6 CROSSDERBY, a new silhouette that combines a classic Derby style upper with an outdoor sole and Salomon’s drawstring lacing system. Finished in shiny black leather, it offers the most versatile expression of the collaboration yet.
The XT 15 Backpack also returns, featuring a white rain cover with a black logo.
The second drop introduces the MM6 XT BOOT, an evolution of an earlier form built around comfort and adaptability. It features a soft inner shoe that wraps the foot, paired with an upper inspired by the shape of a puffer jacket hood. It can be worn open around the calf or tightened down to create an almost sock-like fit. The silhouette arrives in Vanilla Ice, Black, and Dusty Yellow.
The ACS PRO 3 also receives two updated colourways: a dark, city-focused Black and Green Gables version and a combination of Cosmic Sky, Heron, and Violet Tulip.
What makes the MM6 Maison Margiela and Salomon partnership work is that neither brand is simply borrowing from the other. Salomon brings the technical foundation, while MM6 brings the disruption. The result is footwear that feels functional, unexpected, and genuinely wearable.
The MM6 Maison Margiela and Salomon collection arrives in two stages, with Drop 1 launching October 22 and Drop 2 following November 17 through MM6 Maison Margiela and Salomon e-commerce platforms, stores, and select multi-brand retailers.
