Miranda Priestly’s reign at RUNWAY isn’t over just yet. Nearly 20 years after The Devil Wears Prada first defined fashion film canon, 20th Century Studios has released the debut trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2, confirming the return of Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. The sequel lands exclusively in theaters on May 1st, reuniting the original cast with director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna.
The trailer frames a fashion world in transition. As print media continues its decline, Miranda Priestly finds herself confronting Emily Charlton, now a powerful executive at a luxury conglomerate, while Andy Sachs re-enters the picture as a confident media force. A recurring moment in which Miranda “forgets” Andy’s name offers a sharp nod to their unresolved history.
New faces join the fold, including Kenneth Branagh as Miranda’s latest husband, alongside Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, and Justin Theroux. While the industry has shifted into the digital age, the film’s sharp wit and power dynamics remain unchanged proving that some rivalries, like great fashion, never really fade.
