Mercedes-Maybach and LeBron James have unveiled two highly personalized versions of the Mercedes-Maybach S 680 S-Class, bringing together the marque’s MANUFAKTUR craftsmanship with details drawn from the basketball star’s personal history and hometown of Akron, Ohio.

Revealed at Pebble Beach, the pair was created through Mercedes-Maybach’s MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure program, which allows clients to take the marque’s already highly individualized vehicles into far more personal territory. One S 680 will join James’ private collection, while an almost identical second example will be auctioned later this year to benefit the LeBron James Family Foundation and its I PROMISE initiatives.

The cars are finished in a MANUFAKTUR Light Ivory non-metallic exterior, contrasted by an interior upholstered in blue “Stormy Weather” Nappa leather with porcelain stitching. Throughout the cabin, bespoke cushions, floor mats and headrests carry James’ signature branding.

Perhaps the most distinctive detail sits on the exterior. In a first for Mercedes-Maybach, the traditional V12 badge has been replaced with a bespoke emblem featuring James’ signature crown logo, transforming one of the marque’s most recognizable identifiers into something uniquely personal.

The connection to Akron is equally considered. Both vehicles feature discreet engravings and a custom badge incorporating the geographical coordinates of Akron, Ohio, a subtle reference to the city where James was born and where his foundation continues much of its work.

While the first vehicle is destined for James’ collection, its twin has been created with a very different purpose. The forthcoming charity auction will direct all proceeds to the LeBron James Family Foundation, supporting its I PROMISE initiatives for students and families in Akron.

The collaboration is ultimately a showcase of what MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure is designed to achieve: taking a flagship luxury sedan and turning it into something deeply individual. In this case, that personalization extends beyond monograms and materials, using the car itself to connect Maybach’s tradition of bespoke craftsmanship with James’ legacy, hometown and philanthropic work.
