Next up on day two Montreal designer Mélissa Nepton presented her Spring Summer ready to wear collection entitled Pikuseru inspired by pixels and the culture and fashion of Japan.
The show began with an interesting take on jersey, with the cream fabric stitched into a pattern to give it body and texture, resembling quilting. Patterns flooded the runway next, starting with a shiny sequined jumpsuit. The hemlines gradually fell from garment to garment into a flowy nearly sheer patterned maxi with a vibrant blue sash, then moved into a geometric navy as red pattern applied to pants and sheer tops.
Print blocking continued into a sheer cut out pattern also seen in Jeremy Laing’s Spring Summer collection and technique was applied to the middle of tank dresses, sheer vests, pants, and tops and off set by the models dramatic pink eye make up.
Overall we thought the collection was really wearable, especially the cozy jersey pieces.
