This year’s Design Miami/ included a collaboration between Paris-based artist, architect and designer Garance Vallée and Maison Perrier-Jouët. The installation, ‘Planted Air’ offers a shared vision of the artist’s reinterpretation of the ecosystem of the Champagne vineyard.
Showcased as a microcosm, each vine stock is a culture that is rooted in the terroir of Champagne. They reach up towards the sky from earth and mix plays on scale and reflection. This immersive installation allows the viewer to question our relationship to the living world. The partnership between the artist and the Champagne house reflects naturally upon Maison Premier-Jouët as Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose-Adélaïde Jouët shared their love of art and nature with the generations that came after them. ‘Planted Air’ is anchored in an Art Nouveau style and uses authentic materials crafted by artisans: blocks of limestone and wrought iron. In harmony with the installation, limited edition boxes of Perrier-Jouët Blanc de Blancs demonstrate the continuity of life forms which constitute a single whole arranged in sequence from the earth to the sky.
