To celebrate the release of the new Louis Vuitton x Murakami re-edition, the French luxury brand has opened a cute and colourful pop-up in New York’s Soho neighbourhood. The pop-up draws its design inspiration from Tokyo’s famous modular hotels, with a minimalist interior divided into distinct areas with a specific purpose and colour theme. The pop-up is the only fully dedicated space for the re-edition in the United States and will remain open through January, showcasing Chapter One of the capsule.
Within the different modules, there will be a full complement of Louis Vuitton x Murakami Chapter One re-edition, an exhibition space showing archival selections from the original collection, a fully operational care station devoted to original pieces, and a café serving drinks and baked goods. In the lower area, a cinema space will play two Superflat movies by Takashi Murakami, which originally accompanied the 2003 launch and have now been digitally enhanced.
The retail space includes pieces from the collection like the colourful Monogram Multicolore, the whimsical Superflat Panda and the Superflat Garden. All those who make a purchase at the pop-up will receive a token to activate an oversized vending machine stocked with Louis Vuitton x Murakami stickers, trading cards and Takashi Murakami Flower Go Walk portable games. So fun!
For the weekend of January 10-12, customers who purchase something can access a very cool and colourful café decorated with Murakami flower cushions and receive a variety of complimentary drinks like a cinnamon cappuccino, a roiboos latte and vegan hot chocolate, as well as bespoke panda-shaped pastries, and all served with custom Louis Vuitton x Murakami cups and napkins. FUN!
We can hardly contain ourselves, see you all in SoHo for a cappuccino!
