Earlier this month, word got out that creative mastermind Tyler, The Creator, had been invited by Pharrel to work on a Spring 2024 Men’s Capsule Collection for Louis Vuitton. With images and items springing up all over, we get the official campaign images to coincide with the collection’s arrival in stores.

While at first glance, the collection was a playful take on classic Louis Vuitton pieces, with the release of the official images, we can see how intricate and precise each item was created and crafted. The capsule collection, which skews aesthetically very Wes Anderson, is part of the extension of Pharrell Williams’ vision at the Maison in his role as the Men’s Creative Director. Tyler, known for his style and business acumen, has honestly delivered one of the most fun and comfortable collections to come out of the house in a hot minute.

The collection aligns with Tyler, The Creator’s signature vision of preppy sophistication while utilizing the French Luxury brand’s elegance and grace. It features light transeasonal silhouettes in the colours and functions of Spring. Melding Tyler, The Creator’s iconography with that of Louis Vuitton, the emblem of the collection is a Craggy Monogram hand-drawn by the artist himself, in chocolate, vanilla, and pastels.  Hidden within LV Flowers are representations of daisies and Airedale Terriers, a common and recurring motif in the visual eye of Tyler’s aesthetic.

While the clothing is exquisite and playful, I have my eye on the grass-green fleece and pastel-coloured monogram windbreaker; the real winners in the collection are the bags and accessories. The bags are in a league of their own, from trunks, backpacks, dog carriers, and even a golf bag. But innovation is my favourite thing to see in a release, and that comes strong here in the form of the shoes. The LV Dandy loafer is re-imagined in chocolate and black embossed Monogram leather with craggy seams. The LV Waves derby boot comes in a drool-worthy baby blue and pink embossed Monogram nubuck set on a craggy microsole or as a high derby in chocolate leather. The LV Trainer comes in seven different colourways, all in an embossed Monogram nubuck leather and as a golf sneaker in grass-green Damier. For me, it’s the beige with the multicolour Monogram that steals my heart!

Caps, bucket hats and scarves, abundant jewellery, and sunglasses in pink, tortoiseshell and black. The collection features unique accessories, like a Craggy Monogram cereal bowl with a matching spoon, golf accessories like a golf kit, headcovers, a golf box and towels, all in the bold grass-green Damier pattern.

The real question is, why Tyler? Here’s what Pharrell Williams, Men’s Creative Director of Louis Vuitton, had to say:

“Tyler has been my close friend and collaborator for years and we’ve always connected on music and design. This collaboration is unique to Louis Vuitton because it’s a natural extension of our LVERS philosophy, building on our network of incredible artists and creatives. There are so many elements specific to Tyler built into these pieces and it’s been inspiring to see him hone in on his craft and collaborate with him for this Spring collection.”
