In a first for the French luxury brand, Louis Vuitton presented a fun runway show and buying event in Toronto to showcase a selection of the Women’s Fall-Winter 2024 Collection. In the iconic Roy Thompson Hall theatre, the runway presentation was the first ever by the Maison in Canada.  On display was a selection of pieces from Women’s Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière’s 10th-anniversary collection, initially shown in Paris at the Cour Carrée at the Louvre earlier this year.

While the runway presentation represented a curated selection of pieces specifically chosen for the Canadian market, we did get to see some of Ghesquière’s finer pieces, full body knits, feather dresses, sheer pantaloons, technical jackets, and so many great accessories. Because a fashion runway show is a beautifully choreographed piece of art, having it inside the curved corridors of the iconic Roy Thomson Hall, with the Toronto skyline shining through the honeycombed glass canopy, made the experience truly memorable.

For many, this runway presentation was the first time the collection was seen up close and personal. The ability to see the movement and interplay of pieces working together instead of on a screen or a mannequin in-store. Once the show was over and the majesty of the collection still lingered fresh in the mind, the gathered attendees were invited to turn the corner and shop the collection right away.

While it was a first for Canada, Toronto was undoubtedly given a shine with Louis Vuitton’s first-ever runway presentation. The city has been a big market for the brand since its first Canadian standalone store opened its doors over forty years ago in the fashion district of Yorkville.  Toronto will also receive its book in the brand’s City Guide series in October, adding to the continued relationship and importance of the city to the French Maison.
