The Louis Vuitton Escales Autour du Monde collection continues its global run with a stop in Japan, unveiling the Escale au Mont Fuji pocket watch. After the Amazon rainforest and Paris, the House turns to Mount Fuji at sunrise. Crafted as a unique piece at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton in Geneva, it blends high watchmaking with a strong sense of place.

The dial captures a calm spring dawn. Mount Fuji rises beneath a pastel sky of pink, blue and yellow, achieved using 33 enamel colours and 40 firings across Grand Feu, champlevé, paillonné and miniature enamel techniques. Over 300 hours of enamel work create depth and light. A gold compass rose spins at 12 o’clock. A wooden fishing boat glides from right to left carrying sculpted gold Louis Vuitton trunks that open to reveal Monogram flowers. Steering is Ebisu, a figure from Japanese folklore who symbolizes luck and prosperity, holding his fishing rod and a tai sea bream. Nine yellow-gold cherry blossom appliqués sway gently, finished with pink-and-red enamel gradients. The bezel is set with 60 baguette-cut coloured sapphires, totalling 3.74 carats, arranged to mirror the tones of the sky.

Inside, the manual-winding LFT AU14.03 calibre pairs a minute repeater that chimes the hours, quarters and minutes with a tourbillon and a Jacquemart automata system that powers four animations. Built from 561 components, it offers an eight-day power reserve and required 500 hours of assembly and finishing, including 700 bevelled inner angles. The 50 mm white gold case is engraved with Seigaiha wave motifs and subtle Monogram flowers. A bespoke trunk from Asnières and a doctor’s style bag inspired by a 1906 Motor’s bag complete this focused tribute to Mount Fuji and Louis Vuitton’s travel roots.
