Last night, Thursday June 13th, Toronto R&B superstar The Weeknd took over the Mod Club in his home town for an exclusive and intimate show. Tickets for the show were announced last-minute, with only one location in the city selling them, Stussy’s Toronto store. The last time they performed in Toronto, it was a four night sold out show run at The Sound Academy which holds 3500 people. The Mod Club hold 800+ people, making it truly an event for the fans.
Coming out strong, backed by his live band, Mr. xo flawlessly performed all the hits from his three “Free” album series, which managed to fill an hour an a half worth of performance time. Even though the Weeknd don’t have an ‘official’ major label debut yet, it was a staggering reminder to hear just how staple bangers Abel has under his belt.
