Live Music: The Meligrove Band at The Horseshoe, Toronto

The Meligrove Band celebrated nearly 20 years as a band by playing at The Horseshoe Tavern on Thursday night. Part of the festivities included a set full of classic Meligrove songs as well as new ones off of their upcoming album The Bones of Things. These Toronto icons didn’t disappoint and the running joke throughout their set was “we wrote that song” which added an extra level of fun to the night. Their set felt like this giant reset button has been pushed for the band, their renewed energy was evident throughout their entire set.

Openers Stella Ella Ola’s blend of catchy tunes and cheery songs brought sunshine to the dreary rainy night. They are definitely on my bands to watch list. Former members of Great Bloomers and other bands have come together as Only Yours. Who opened the night with their first show ever. Their 80’s inspired tunes are in sync with what’s trendy right now. It will be interesting to see how this band evolves as they continue to gel as a band.

Here are more shots from the show.
