Last night marked the Toronto stop of Brother Ali’s “The Own Light” tour and fans packed Adelaide Hall with love and positivity from floor to ceiling.

Rhymesayers Entertainment was definitely in the building as Washington, D.C. rapper Sa-Roc provided an energetic opening set, delivering bar after bar and shining over old classics and some new jams of her own.

After a lengthy set from Last Word, Brother Ali took the stage and proved once again why he’s a dominating force in socially conscious underground hip hop. The Minneapolis MC performed a slew of tracks ranging from his arguably classic albums Shadows on the Sun and The Undisputed Truth to his recently released All the Beauty in This Whole Life. Ali continuously reminded the crowd to love one another and to reflect on the love in their individual lives.
