English folk punk hero Billy Bragg and legendary American producer and songwriter Joe Henry seem like an unlikely pairing from the get go, and when the result of their collaboration is an album celebrating traditional folk songs surrounding the railroad it’s going to raise some eyebrows. With all that said, that’s exactly what we got on a Tuesday night at The Danforth Music Hall with the duo performing songs from “Shine a Light: Field Recordings From The Great American Railroad”. The pair kicked things off with a series of songs from the record, eventually splitting off to display a small sampling from their solo catalogues. Between songs they waxed rhapsodic about the railroad, and the origins of many of the songs, also cracking jokes here and there to the full crowd at the Danforth. billy-bragg-and-joe-henry-6
