On Monday night UK electro duo AlunaGeorge took to the stage at an under packed Hoxton. The sad turn out was perhaps due to everything else happening in Toronto with TIFF, the release of Arcade Fire’s ‘Reflektor’ single, and Festival Music House, but it’s been a while since we’ve seen a group so hyped on the Internet, that didn’t pull a sold out show.
But the lack of a packed venue didn’t seem to faze the duo one bit, when they flew on stage with an intensity we didn’t expect after they cancelled their interviews earlier that day. Aluna Francis looked fierce as ever in a cropped and cut So So Glos tee, Karl Lagerfeld leather shorts, a large gold arm cuff and Nike high tops.
They played a good chunk of their highly addictive debut Body Music, including their Montell Jordan cover of “This Is How We Do It” and even treated the crowd to a live edition of Disclosure’s “White Noise” on which they’re featured. Obviously people went nuts for it, but it was the closing track “Your Drums Your Love” when everyone really danced harder than ever. People seemed to be teased by their decision to close with this track, especially when they didn’t come back for an encore.
Check out some photos of their set below.
