Red Bull Music Festival returns to Toronto, kicking off a week worth of programming with Canadian singer-songwriter and former frontwoman of Crystal Castles, Alice Glass. Constructed in 1859, The Fermenting Cellar is a historic, multi-purpose events venue transformed into “The Doll House.” Glass collaborated with renowned Canadian photographer and director Floria Sigismondi who has worked with the likes of David Bowie, Justin Timberlake and Marilyn Manson to craft an experience, unlike anything she’s done before.
Alice’s performance was accompanied by four back up dancers and a single circular backdrop with a projector that complimented the atmosphere of each song. She performed songs off her self-titled EP which came out last year as well as new music yet to be released. It was her eccentric stage presence and genuine crowd interaction that made it hard for anyone to take their eyes off the performance.
