Just last week, M.I.A. shared the Blaqstarr remix of her new track “Bird Song” amid news of a Diplo produced cut making her upcoming album A.I.M. packed with an endless list of bird references and a campy kazoo, it was a complete dud and we were unsure even Diplo could save this track. After duking it out with her label, Interscope, to clear the release of this Diplo mix, we’re a little ashamed we doubted Diplo’s talents for a second. Diplo does what he does best: throw some Dancehall on it, and it’s a certified banger. Limiting the kazoo and pumping the verses with a surf guitar chord, and Diplo’s “Bird Song” is the best M.I.A. song we’ve heard in a while. Can’t wait to hear this one in the club.
