Rising Toronto rapper and New Gen affiliate Lil Berete has followed up a series of debut track/video pairings with a brand new offering titled “Northside.”
Directed by King Bee, the visual is a portrait of Berete’s Regent Park neighbourhood and acts as a sister to his January offering “Southside” (which is currently sitting at over 400,000 views on YouTube). The melodic guitar-driven production is complemented by Berete’s unique crying vocals and descriptions of life as a rising Canadian rap star growing up in where the press release describes as the country’s “oldest and largest housing project.”
