LG Fashion Week 2011: Pink Tartan & Joe Fresh

We’re still beat from partying really hard at Monday’s opener to LG Fashion Week, but we couldn’t miss seeing Pink Tartan on Tuesday night, especially after all the talk coming out of New York about the collection, and of course Joe Fresh, who makes clothes we can afford to buy in heap loads!

With the crowds packed with writers from near and far, each show had a very different vibe but were equally high energy. We saw heavy military detailing and metallic dusted camo at Pink Tartan, augmented with splashes of plum, feathered skirts, and chunky knit scarves perfect for our Canadian winters. Designer Kimberley Newport-Mimran’s was spot on with this cohesive and well-constructed collection, continuing to command attention to one of the most coveted and anticipated shows of the season.

At Joe Fresh a splashy orange microfiber coat opened the show on a smiling model followed by a slew of orange touched and saturated dresses, coats and genius accessories. At times it felt like designer Joe Mimran’s collection was a mass market version of the Tron Legacy Opening Ceremony line, which isn’t such a bad thing, with tailored camels and emerald greens throw in here and there to bring it back to the more conservative tone of previous collections.
