KayTran Eyewear 2012 Collection Launch

Last night we were invited to take a peep at KayTran Eyewear‘s inaugural collection at Toronto’s Pink Eye Optical. At first glance the collection appears to be yet another spin on the classics, but upon closer inspection, we found these seriously well-made shades rather intriguing.

Born out of a passion for a pair of shades that truly fit comfortably on your face without sitting annoyingly on your cheeks or falling down your nose, Toronto-based designer Kathy Tran set out, fresh from Richard Ivey School of Business with her M.B.A. in hand to design and produce a range sophisticated shades that all feature The KayTran Fit (see the handy chart below for details).

In addition to giving your eyes some L.B.T. (Lens Curve Reduction; Bridge Adjustments; Temple Angles Widened), all the shades are cutely named after her close friends and handmade in Italy with Carl Zeiss CR39 lenses. Our favourites from the collection were the Aiden sunglasses available in Golden Amber Honey, Indigo Tortoise, Polished Black and Violet Tortoise, and the Olivia‘s which come in Black Cheery, Black Glass, and Caramel, shown below in our photos.

You can find these stunning shades at Goldstein Boutique, Optic Zone and of course Pink Eye Optical in Toronto, as well as Artsee Eyewear and Maximeyes in New York. Take a look at our photos from the launch below as well as the video lookbook for the collection.
