Brooklyn-based graffiti artist turned star of the Hypebeast generation collection addiction, Brian Donnelly aka KAWS presents his newest exhibition GONE at New York’s Skarstedt Gallery. GONE is the artist’s inaugural show upon joining Skarstedt Gallery, and will feature four large-scale bronze sculptures, and a series of new paintings.
Ranging from 6ft. to 8ft. tall, KAWS’s bronze figures feature his iconic characters including CHUM, COMPANION, and BFF. The new series of paintings feature a slightly different colour palette than his usual pieces with rich earthy tones: deep green, burgundy, moss, teal, and pops of neon yellow. The pieces include elements of landscapes, his above-mentioned characters as well as the signature “X” layered by shadowy foregrounds. GONE offers endless parallels between the paintings and bronzes with the intention of invoking a paradox of emotions.
