Kicking off another rainy day at Men’s Fashion Week in Paris, Junya Watanabe returned to the golden age of the lumberjack aesthetic for Fall/Winter 2025. The collection leans heavily into plaid in a rugged, outdoorsy style while embracing a modern take on the buffalo plaid, Prince of Wales check, and Levi’s denim styling. This comes as no surprise as Junya’s collaboration with Levi’s has been ongoing for decades, and Filson advertisements lined the industrial walls when entering the venue.

Models walked the runway in trucker hats and canvas chore jackets, set to a folk-country soundtrack.  The collection balanced workwear and sophistication, featuring patchwork leather-accented coats, military-style jackets, and plaid outerwear layered under chore coats paired with short ties and sensible cotton button-downs. Pops of vibrant orange seemed almost a nod to construction site workers while luxurious shearling accented with pockets balanced the overall aesthetic.

Aside from the many Filson and Levi’s collaboration pieces, the brand debuted the new New Balance 471 sneakers in two colourways, navy blue and grey, Heinrich Dinkelacker boat shoes and Paraboot trail boots to round out the collection.

One of the standout pieces for the season is the Mackinaw Cruiser Jacket, a classic workwear piece originally crafted for forestry workers. “Sharing the Mackinaw cruiser jacket with Filson highlights the good old workwear originally crafted for forestry workers,” remarked Junya Watanabe.

Following the show, the streets were buzzing about the collection – maybe the most wearable and obtainable of all the shows this season. The nod to the outdoorsmen’s rugged aesthetic offers up masculinity in an age where masculinity is prized and exalted. All this is done with the intentional, over-emphasized touch for which the brand is known.
