Beloved Montreal band Islands have returned with a new album called Ski Mask, that supposedly sums up Nick Thorburn’s overall experiences about being in a band and the pressures of being part of a musical trend. The first single “Wave Forms” is a kind of general fuck you to the man, Thorburn hints at how he won’t ever go back to their earlier much loved album Return to the Sea, and continues on wailing, “I won’t ride another wave and I won’t write another word after today” in the track.
Though negative in nature, “Wave Forms” is yet another rather catchy quintessential Islands tune that reminds us of the good old days. Give it a spin below and look out for Ski Mask which is set to drop on September 17th via Manqué.
