Just in time for all that extra time you’ve been spending at home crushing all the content on your favourite streaming services, Sonos has announced the latest innovation in home audio, an all new premium soundbar called Arc. Following Playbar, Playbase, and Beam – one of the most popular soundbars for TV, Arc is a brand new premium, smart soundbar said to deliver ultra-wide cinema quality sound with booming bass in the comfort of your very own living room. Including support from Dolby Atmos, Sonos Arc features eleven high-performance drivers, incorporating two that are upward firing to achieve an immersive 3D audio experience with the clarity and depth of sound you’d expect in a movie theatre.
Arc also includes Speech Enhancement and Night Sound, two features we’ve come to love on Beam, which enhance the clarity of vocals and help tone down big explosions if you’re watching a movie late at night and don’t want to wake the whole house. This time around, Sonos has updated their Trueplay tuning technology to adjust Arc’s acoustic profile for truly 3D sound which accounts for both horizontal and vertical sound.
“Home has never played a more important role in our lives and we’ve always been about making the home more enjoyable with great sounding products and new experiences. Arc brings the sounds of our favorite shows and artists to life like never before,”
Patrick Spence, Sonos CEO.
Of course Arc can also sync and play along with other speakers in your Sonos system when your TV is off, and is controlled with a new verison of their app, S2 (coming June 8th,) as well as with your TV Remote, or by voice commands through Amazon Alexa or the Google Assistant, and Apple AirPlay 2. Sonos has also unveiled updated versions of the Sonos Sub and Sonos Five (available June 10th,) which will feature updated internals and the same sleek design. Once you’ve got Arc set up, you ca take your entertainment system to the next level, by adding a Sonos Sub and a pair of One SL surrounds to further your cinematic experience.
Sonos Arc is available in matte black and matte white for $799 USD ($999 CAD) starting June 10th and is available for pre-order today at Sonos.com. Check out the video below for a bit more information.
