Last week we headed to New York with Reebok Canada for a special event hosted by brand ambassador Lil Yachty to celebrate the iconic Workout Plus sneaker and the continuation of the Always Classic campaign. Taking place at the Classic Car Club in Manhattan, the ‘Breaking Classic’ experience kicked off with a guided archive exhibit of the Workout Plus sneakers evolution since 1984 when it was first introduced, curated by Reebok’s Director of Product marketing James Hardaway.

After a refresher on the silhouettes storied history from Hardaway, they brought us back to 2018 with a panel discussion featuring celebrity stylist Rox Brown, Atlanta-based streetwear designer Original Fani, Sailing Team members JBans2Turnt and Kodie Shane, and of course Lil Yachty. Touching on Yachty and his crew’s favourite fits both on and off stage, the panel discussion unpacked a couple looks worn by his team as well as past looks Rox had styled for Yachty like the 2017 BET Awards and the somewhat controversial Paper Magazine editorial from summer 2017, where Yachty mentioned they were trying to make him wear crazy stuff (and Rox swooped in to help.)

The festivities continued following the panel with a dance performance by Atlanta-based duo Meechie and Toosi before Lil Yachty took the stage. His high energy performance also featured a low-key fashion presentation styled by Rox Brown highlighting key pieces from Reebok for the forthcoming spring summer season worn by rising models and influencers like Sharina Gutierrez, Shiggy, Kendra Bailey, Gitoo, Kalysse Anthony, and more.

Check out our video recap of the event below and watch them bounce around on stage in Reebok’s Workout Plus.
