April has undoubtedly been a definitive month for music. Back to back Coachella weekends, surprise albums from Beyoncé, Drake, Drake, Drake, and everything in between, it’s hard not to get overwhelmed by the plethora of tunes that emerged. Couple that with the untimely death of Prince, and the reunion of LCD Soundsystem and Guns N’ Roses… we spent as much time looking back as we did looking forward.
Seriously, what a month. In between all this, your new favourite artists have been dropping fresh cuts and we wouldn’t be doing our jobs if we didn’t grab them all and make the bangerest mixtape you’ve ever heard (until next month).
Featuring music from Drake, of course, plus Toronto’s newly minted synth-pop duo The Darcy’s, Harlem’s own A$AP Ferg, some serious fierce females like Femme, Etta Bond, Jorja Smith, Oyinda, Kali Uchis, a sprinkling of Missy and a couple back to back tracks featuring Anderson .Paak, 2016’s unofficial MVP.
