OK, so we already established that you will be the coolest girl at this year’s holiday parties, wearing your badass pantsuit or jumpsuit rather than a frilly old dress.

But when it comes to a killer ensemble, your choice of footwear is equally as important as your main pieces of clothing, because, well, there’s nothing that ruins a good outfit more than the wrong pair of shoes.

While other fashion experts may suggest a classic pair of sparkly flats or pointy-toed pumps adorned with bows, we’ve got some shoes in mind that are obviously much cooler than your basic holiday footwear.

Check out some of our faves below, and be prepared to break some necks:

1. Aldo Dayana Heels, $100

These platform sandals were made for the dance floor, especially with that loud metallic lavender detail. If you really wanna be a disco queen, pair these with your fave slinky silver number.

2. Nicholas Kirkwood Black Casati Pearl Boots, $1480

Who says you can’t wear boots to a party? These Nicholas Kirkwood boots are perfect for those wanting to channel a rebellious vibe. Plus, the pearls make them dressy, right?

3. Public Desire Abigal Faux Fur Heel, $70

We all need a little bit of (faux) fur in our lives, so what better way to incorporate it into your holiday outfit than with some fur-adorned sandals? This will look particularly great with a velvet short suit.

4. Brother Vellies ‘Tufted’ Genuine Fox Fur Slide Sandal, $1,024.63

If you prefer the real thing, go for these fox fur slide sandals by Toronto-native Aurora James’ Brother Vellies.

5. Call It Spring Doyne Boots, $69.99

Be warned: these boots aren’t for the faint of heart. With lace-up detailing on both sides of your shin, the hints of skin make for an unexpectedly sexy look.

6. J.W.Anderson Black Cylinder Heel Ballet Mules, $1,450

These clearly aren’t your average lace-up ballet flats, which is exactly why we love them. The cylinder heel adds some serious interest, while the leather “ribbons” really give off an edgier vibe.

7. Jeffrey Campbell Kenobi Heels, $130

In case there’s some of you who just can’t quit the glitter (at least for the holidays), we’ve included this platform sandal from Jeffrey Campbell. Despite its sparkle, it still screams retro cool.

8. ASOS Stay Cool Loafers, $69.81

The best shoes to wear with your dressy PJ set? A pair of loafers, of course. Up the ante with this metallic heeled version — the faux fur strips are an added extra special touch.

9. Zara High Heel Velvet Ankle Boots, $119

If you haven’t already added a pair of velvet ankle boots to your closet this season, now’s the time. These wine-coloured booties will take you through your holiday parties into the winter season (when there’s no snow, of course).

10. Saint Laurent Pink Mirror Paris Heels, $546

So we like pink. Sue us. Despite the “girlie” hue, this mirrored pair by Saint Laurent is anything but prissy.
