There’s nothing quite like Paris in the summer. The city radiates heat, and the Parisian resistance to air conditioning hits different when there’s a heatwave. Inside the Palais d’Iéna, Hermès’ Véronique Nichanian channelled that energy, harnessing it for the Spring Summer season, with a collection built for real summer: lightweight, refined, and quietly luxurious.
The show began with calm energy and unfolded with precision. After the first few models walked by, it became clear the materials were the message for Nichanian this season. Plume nubuck calfskin tank tops and cardigans, ribbed lambskin blousons, and sport calfskin overshirts with Éperon d’or imprints and contrast topstitching. Leather, oui bien sûr — but ventilated and cut with laser precision, made to breathe.
The palette channelled sun and stone: putty, kraft, elepahnt coffee, ficelle, with deep burgundy and mint green dotted through. black — just sun-warmed greys and sandy tones. Tailoring took a relaxed stance: shantung silk double-breasted suits, oversized spinnaker canvas jackets with drawstring waists, and pleated trousers in gabardine, cotton drill, and openwork leather. Knitwear remained sheer and breathable, featuring linen, silk, and cashmere mixes, as well as Oxford silk tanks and cotton-linen polos. Even the jackets felt weightless in poplin and crispy wool.
Footwear designed for hot weather: rope-soled sandals, suede slides, leather huaraches and sleek ankle boots, including a matte crocodile pair. No fuss, just form that moved with ease. Bags were classic, elevated: Haut à Courroies, Garden Party Voyage, and Étrivière totes in H canvas and Barénia calfskin. A functional H canvas and Barénia calfskin Long Courrier garment bag resembled a weekender bag with front buckles and monogrammed leather card slot with Nichanian’s initials.
This wasn’t about spectacle. It was about confidence in the heat—dressing with intention, and letting the space between texture and craft speak for itself.
