Five years after the launch of Rouge Hermès, a collection of objects and accessories dedicated to the lips, the house is expanding its offering with Rouge Brillant Silky, a delicately tinted and intensely glossy lipstick, inspired by the sumptuous velvety texture of the house’s legendary silk scarves.
“The texture is both light and enveloping. A tender lipstick—the kind you can apply without a mirror, from morning to night.”
– Gregoris Pyrpylis, Creative Director of Hermès Beauty
The 14 light-filled shades are designed to have buildable colour, including five emblematic Rouge Hermès colours: Rouge Casaque, Rouge H, Rouge Amazone, Rose Boisé, and Rose Épicé, which have been reinterpreted with the updated finish. For the launch, Pyrpylis designed a Limited Edition collection of three shades: 04 Beige Halo, 30 Rose Gélatine, and 28 Orange Flash, which were on view in a larger-than-life size at a party held during Paris Fashion Week earlier this month.
The 85% natural formula incorporates active ingredients designed to care for the lips naturally, including raspberry leaf extract to moisturize and plump, sesame seed extract and white mulberry to smooth and soften, and Abyssinian oil to nourish and protect.
When it comes to applying the tinted hues, Pyrpylis told Wallpaper that it doesn’t follow the rules. “Of course, you can start with one swipe on your lips and stop there, which will provide a very lightweight veil of colour. Then, you can build up the intensity if you continue with a second or even a third layer,” he explains.
Much like Rouge Hermès, the Rouge Brillant Silky packaging, designed by Pierre Hardy has a fun metallic outer case that looks as luxurious in your handbag as it does your lips. Each lipstick comes with a protective Rouge H canvas pouch inside a tiny signature Hermès orange box.
The Limited Edition shades are $99 CAD and available at select Hermès boutiques across Canada as well as at Hermès.com.
