Herman Miller Gaming is pushing deeper into the enthusiast world with the launch of the Coyl, the brand’s first standing desk designed specifically for gamers. The Herman Miller Coyl features a precision rotary control, a coiled power cord, and an optional cable trough built for marathon gaming sessions. While the Motia previously filled the role as the company’s gaming-friendly desk, the Coyl feels like a much sharper evolution with an entirely in-house design that balances clean aesthetics with practical utility.
Instead of leaning into the oversized and overly aggressive look common throughout the category, Herman Miller keeps things restrained. The rounded laminate desktop arrives in black, white, walnut, and ash finishes, giving the Coyl a more elevated furniture feel that works just as well in a living space as it does in a dedicated setup.

The biggest flex here is the precision rotary dial used for height adjustments. Rather than standard push buttons, the dial allows for granular tuning down to a tenth of an inch, complete with tactile feedback inspired by premium audio gear and high end gaming mice. It is the kind of detail that feels small until you actually use it.
Cable management also gets a thoughtful upgrade. Herman Miller introduces a signature red coiled power cable called “The Coil” that stays taut and organized as the desk moves up or down, eliminating the usual hanging wire situation that comes with most sit-to-stand desks. An extra-wide cable trough hidden behind a fold-down felt cover makes organizing power strips and peripheral cables surprisingly painless, too.

Integrated headphone hooks and an optional pegboard-style back panel add extra flexibility for controllers, accessories, and personal touches without pushing the desk into full gamer cosplay territory. Pricing starts at $1,095 USD and tops out at $1,635 USD for the fully loaded version. If you’re looking to move beyond the industrial feel of larger gaming desk systems, the Coyl is a more refined option that still understands how people use their setups every day.
