HBO has premiered the first of its four-part documentary series, The Defiant Ones, highlighting the illustrious careers of music luminaries Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine.
For those unaware, Dre and Iovine are the founders of the highly successful Beats By Dre brand which was acquired by Apple for $3 billion USD in 2014. Before this venture, the two worked many different jobs through their extensive years in the music business. The carefully crafted 50-minute production is told with moments of humor to help make factual elements entertaining and begins with the aforementioned sale. The work was directed by Allen Hughes (Menace II Society, American Pimp) in collaboration with Doug Parry.
