Every year as festival season approaches around the world, we all feel that inevitable urge to go out and buy an entirely new wardrobe of looks. But what if you could seamlessly transition your wardrobe of festival favourites into your everyday seasonal attire and vice versa? By investing in the right pieces you’ll want to wear all season long, year after year.
We’ve been going to festivals as a spectator and as media for almost a decade now and as seasoned festival vets, you can imagine we’ve seen and worn just about every single look possible. We’ve got things down to a fine science by now, and are ready to share the love so you don’t have to stress about looking like a boss on the festival field this year, and catch the eye of a style photographer while you’re at it ?.
We’ve narrowed down our three favourite styles for you including some key looks you’ll need to have as part of your look. While your outfit is probably what most people will notice first, we think great accessories are worth investing in for the season. Not only can you wear them over and over while still changing your look, you’ll want to wear they off the festival field as well.
Ergo, the most important pieces for festival dressing are of course some cool shades, a great backpack, and comfortably cool footwear, (not to mention sunscreen).
First up is the Boho look, perfect the fashionable free spirit. One of our favourite pieces to really anchor a festival look is the jumpsuit because you immediately look put together and matching your accessories and boom, you’re ready in a flash! Mara Hoffman designs some of the best prints so we love this tie front wide leg jumpsuit which you could easily wear to a wedding or summer party later in the season.
Second up is a great pair of espadrilles, like these Givenchy studded trim ones from Farfetch and an awesome backpack, like this Acne Rope Jungle Bag, that can hold all your supplies for the day. Finish it off with an awesome pair of statement shades from Karen Walker, a bright lipstick, and you’re ready for a day of music.
If you tend to want to go a little more casual to the festival, while still looking cool af, then this sports luxe look is the one for you. Not only will you stay cool, wearing this super cool Fendi logo top from Farfetch, but you’ll look badass once you pair it with this staple jean skirt by One Teaspoon.
Channel a little Rihanna with these Puma By Rihanna Creeper White Leather Creepers, an MM6 Maison Margiela Black Mesh Drawstring Backpack, a flashy metallic mac coat from topshop (in case it rains and you still want to stay fresh), a pair Illesteva Leonard Mask Sunglasses to match and you’re ready to rock.
This look is probably our most favourite way to get dressed for a festival because you can wear it out to brunch and to the afterparty. It’s unconventional enough that you’re sure to stand out, but if you look closely the details of this look are mighty fine. We love wearing prints to festivals and these Dolce & Gabbana Embroidered Shorts are an absolutely dreamy way to make a statement along with this À La Garçonne black net crop top and this KARA White Tarp Small Backpack. Everyone should own a great pair of boots and we love these Balenciaga Black Buckles Boots which will transcend many seasons and outfits outside of a festival. Finally you’ll need an awesome pair of future chic eyewear and these Adam Selman x Le Specs Fugitive Sunglasses are perfect to wear, especially if you’re heading to the festival into the late afternoon once the sun is setting.
