Tom Scott Spring Summer 2010

Tom Scott‘s latest Spring Summer lookbook has a case of the Mondays, and come on, we’ve all been there before, haven’t we? Scrambling to find the perfect outfit du jour – combing the depths of your closet for the perfect outfit, taking a break to water the plants or have something to drink. If we counted the number of outfits we try on in the morning before finally figuring out what to wear we’d probably have at least a lookbook’s worth of different outfits, some days more than others I’m sure!

Tom Scott’s designs are just the perfect thing to pull on in the morning to make your outfit pop. His beautiful day-glow pinks last season were an absolute must, and this coming season it will be that gorgeous cut out dress and ruffly tank top. A Pennsylvania native, Scott learned to hand-knit and crochet from his grandmother, who was a Scottish lace maker.

Scott studied textile design in Philadelphia and later transferred to the Scottish College of Textiles where he obtained a degree in knits. After stints working as a freelance designer for Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren Collection, Scott launched his own line of knit accessories in 2001, adding clothing in 2003. He later was awarded the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award in 2007 and in 2008 was named a finalist for the International Woolmark Prize, resulting in an exhibition of work at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. This past September Scott opened up his very first flagship store in Manhattan’s Lower East Side where he is based.

This season Scott’s unusual yet wearable designs take the cut out trend to the next level while still managing to maintain a feminine silhouette. By placing the wide selection of models, (which is nice for a change since most lookbooks this season centre on only one or two models), in various household places the clothes seem even more wearable and comfortable. I especially love all the old fashioned kitchen items and bathroom shots! You’ve done it again lassie!
