Drake General Store Flagship Redesign Preview

Yesterday we had the pleasure of getting a sneak peek at the newly redesigned Drake General Store‘s flagship location just next door to the hotel in West Queen West. They’ve knocked out the back of the shop to create an intimate clothing and change room area, along with a super neat old-fashioned Prescriptions wall housing beauty and luxury toiletries including Malin+Goetz, Marvis Toothpaste, Tap Water Bottles, and Pantone toothbrushes. In the centre of the shop is a huge cross-shaped jewellery case packed with all things precious and oh-so covetable, you could stare into it for hours and never look at the same sparkly item twice.

Heading into the holiday season they’ve got vintage Christmas tree vintage glass tree ornaments in the shape of everything from sparkly hamburgers, pizza slices, and bright green pickles, to snowy owls, day of the dead skulls, and the creepiest old-fashioned Santa. Stationary is punctuated throughout the reclaimed wood displays, as are goodies from Brooklyn’s Mast Brothers Chocolates, their in-house Drake Granola, Morris Kitchen Ginger Syrup, McClures Pickles, and their highly anticipated super exclusive collaborative chocolate bark from Soma Chocolate Makers.

Tee’s, socks, and backpacks for women, men, and Kids by Shared History are also spread throughout the shop, while much of the newly renovated back area highlights pieces by Levi’s, Something Else, North Star, Lifetime, Pendleton, Insight, and Cheap Monday. Happy Socks are housed inside a hollowed out grandfather clock with shelves, and leather-bound rolled Pendleton blankets, MacAusland throws, hats and other cold weather accessories sit effortlessly throughout the apparel area.

They’ve also got a fresh crop of coffee table books and magazines including the Marc Jacobs Louis Vuitton book, Fantastic Man, The Gentlewoman, Monocle Magazine, Frankie, the Opening Ceremony 10 year anniversary book, and a hilarious Stoner coffee table book. They’ve also got plenty of unique one of a kind vintage pieces of Canadiana, as well as porcelain objects, Owlies, filament bulbs, notebooks, flasks, pillows, kids books, and toys; we could go on forever!

We’re always beyond impressed and delighted by the Drake’s ability to satisfy our curiosities and bring magic to everything they do, really we could spend countless hours (and hundreds of thousands) at the newly redesigned shop, and we probably will, just as soon as it re-opens to the public tomorrow. Take a peek below at what to expect.
