Earlier this summer, Dior Parfums announced Rihanna would take over Charlize Theron’s two-decade-long rein as the muse of the forever iconic fragrance J’adore. First released in 1999, J’adore has seen several iterations, including its most recent, more pure alcohol-free reimagining, J’adore l’Or, by legendary perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, who is Parfums Dior perfume creation director. Unveiled last fall with an exhibition at the Les Beaux-Arts De Paris, which commemorated the history of the scent through the decades, J’adore l’Or was destined for cultural greatness from day one.

Today, Dior Parfums teased the very first look at Rihanna’s campaign as the goddess in gold, captured by long-time friend Steven Klein. While the full video campaign is set to drop on September 2nd, the first image sets the stage for Queen Riri on her thrown at the Chateau Versailles, stepping into her power like the boss she is.

“An idol who dreamed of a life and transformed it into gold.”

Rihanna wears the iconic gold pearl necklace once worn by Charlize Theron in the campaign, reinvented for the occasion, with an extravagant pale sequin embroidered gown created by Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri.

The campaign marks a new era for J’adore, and Rihanna as the face, the scent remains on strong footing to maintain its best-seller status for decades to come.

Stay tuned for the full campaign coming next month.
